We are at the half way point of the season. Just wanted to thank everyone for participating in the first Junior Team Tennis League at South Towns Tennis Club, we are very excited about its potential.

A few statistics we have played 72 matches so far, 607 games have been played, we have had 53 players and two matches have ended in ties.

We congratulate all of you for doing something new.

Week Three

Great matches in the 14 and Under division, one match was a tie and the other was determined by two games. The Monarchs continued to be undefeated in the 18's.

14 and Under results - Ice Tigers tied Tiger Sharks at 23 and the Polars Bears beat the Lions 28 to 26. 18 and Under results - Monarchs 31 to the Storm's 24 and the Spirit beat the Rampage 32 to 22.

Thanks for everyone for participating, especially Ben Pappalardo for being a sub today.

Week Two - League Standings

14 and Under results - Tiger Sharks defeated Lions 33 to 22 and Polar Bears beat Ice Tigers 29 to 24. 18 and Under results - Monarchs downed the Spirit 33 to 19 and Storm held back the Rampage 31 to 24.

USTA

We are working on being a part of Junior Team Tennis that is affiliated with the USTA. This has many benefits and we will be telling you more information as it becomes available. We do know we will have the opportunity to compete at regionals and sectionals with a goal of making it to Nationals.

Announcements

We have a switch in team members, Matt Gura has moved to the Rampage and Kristen Sayadof has gone to the Monarchs. Also, Curtis Wassum is the sub for Clark Driscoll and will be playing for the Spirit. Kelsey Drew, Sara Zywiczynski and Taylor L. will be playing for the Polar Bears on Sunday.

New Times

Thanks for everyone that participated in the first week of Junior Team Tennis.

Starting this Sunday, February 18th we will extend the finish time of JTT to 5:30 PM, this will hopefully allow the completion of all the sets.

Rules

THE RULES

1.) BOYS SINGLES, GIRLS SINGLES, BOYS DOUBLES, GIRLS DOUBLES AND TWO MIXED DOUBLES

2.) 6 GAME PRO SET, TIE BREAK AT 5 ALL, 9 POINT TIE BREAK

3.) DO NOT SWITCH SIDES DURING MATCH

4.) TEAM WITH MOST GAMES IN ALL OF THE SETS IS THE WINNER, TWO POINTS FOR THE WINNER. IN CASE OF A TIE BOTH TEAMS RECEIVE ONE POINT.

5.) FOUR TEAM LEAGUE, PLAY EACH TEAM TWICE.

6.) IF ONLY TWO OF THE SAME GENDER IS IN THE LINE UP THEN ONE PLAYER CAN PLAY IN 3 MATCHES, IF 3 OF THE SAME GENDER IS IN THE LINEUP, ONE CAN PLAY A MAXIMUM OF TWO MATCHES. A PLAYER CAN'T PLAY JUST ONE MATCH TWO WEEKS IN A ROW.

7.) LINEUP NEEDS TO BE APPROVED BY A COACH.

8.) IF NOT ABLE TO PLAY IN A MATCH, YOU NEED TO NOTIFY US BY FRIDAY AT 3 PM BY CONTACTING SOUTH TOWNS TENNIS CLUB 662-9396

Junior Team Tennis

New at South Towns Tennis Club a Junior Team Tennis with a total of 8 teams in two divisions. Like to thank all who have signed up and we are looking forward to a fun and enjoyable session.

Due to the thousand inches of snow, we had to postpone the first matches of the season. We will just start everything on February 11th.
